Shipping Policy | Freedom Fabrications
Last updated: January 15, 2025
OVERVIEW
We build custom fabricated steel products. Most of what we ship is heavy, oversized, or both, and moves by LTL freight rather than parcel carrier. Because freight cost depends on weight, dimensions, distance, and destination type, we do not offer flat rate shipping.
This policy explains how we quote freight, how long orders take, and what you are responsible for at delivery.
HOW FREIGHT IS QUOTED
Freight is calculated at checkout based on the shipping address you enter, the weight and dimensions of your items, and the type of delivery location.
Freight quotes are based on the information you provide. If the delivery address, contact information, or site conditions turn out to be different from what was entered at checkout, additional carrier charges may apply and will be billed to you.
Carriers routinely re-measure and re-weigh shipments in transit. If a carrier issues a corrected freight bill because the declared dimensions, weight, or classification were inaccurate based on information you supplied, that correction is your responsibility.
If your location is unusual, hard to reach, or you are not sure what services you need, contact us at sales@frdmfabs.com before ordering and we will quote it manually.
LEAD TIMES
Lead time is production time. It is separate from transit time. Please plan for both.
Stock items. Items in stock typically ship within 5 business days of order acceptance.
Custom and made to order items. Custom builds, non-standard sizes, special powder coat colors, and special order configurations have a production lead time of 4 to 12 weeks depending on the product, material availability, and current shop capacity. We will give you an estimated lead time when your order is placed.
For custom orders, the lead time begins when we have received your deposit and you have approved the specifications in writing. Changes to an approved specification will restart the lead time.
Lead times are estimates, not guarantees. Material availability, supplier delays, freight carrier capacity, and shop backlog can move these dates. We will keep you informed if your estimated ship date changes materially.
Transit time. Once your order ships, LTL transit typically runs 3 to 7 business days within the continental United States depending on distance. Transit time is controlled by the carrier and is not guaranteed.
PARCEL SHIPMENTS
Smaller items such as brackets, mounts, hardware, and accessories may ship by parcel carrier rather than freight. These are quoted at standard parcel rates and typically deliver faster than freight shipments.
Orders containing both parcel-eligible items and freight items may ship separately and arrive on different days.
LOCAL PICKUP
Pickup is available at our Seminole, Texas facility at no charge. Select pickup at checkout and we will contact you when your order is ready.
We provide forklift loading during regular business hours. Please bring your order confirmation and a photo ID, and make sure your vehicle or trailer is capable of safely carrying the load. Securing the load for transport is your responsibility.
Orders not picked up within 30 days may be subject to storage charges.
WHERE WE SHIP
We ship throughout the continental United States.
Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Freight to these destinations is quoted individually and is not available at checkout. Contact us at sales@frdmfabs.com before ordering.
International. We can ship internationally, but international freight is not available at checkout and must be quoted individually. Contact us at sales@frdmfabs.com with your product and destination. You are responsible for all duties, taxes, customs charges, brokerage fees, and compliance with import requirements in the destination country.
We do not ship to PO boxes.
DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS
Curbside delivery does not include unloading. Standard LTL freight delivery means the carrier brings the shipment to your location and you take it off the truck.
You are responsible for having a forklift, loading dock, or adequate personnel available to receive the shipment. If you cannot unload a heavy palletized shipment yourself, liftgate service must be ordered in advance.
Liftgate service is a paid accessorial service that must be requested and paid for before the shipment goes out. It is not included in standard freight delivery. Do not assume the driver will have a liftgate available or will be able to help unload. Drivers are not required to unload your shipment, and a driver who assists is doing so voluntarily.
Residential deliveries include liftgate service by default, since most residential locations have no dock or forklift.
Most carriers will call to schedule a delivery appointment on freight shipments. Provide a phone number that will be answered. If the carrier cannot reach you, your shipment may go into storage at your expense.
Someone must be present to receive and sign for freight deliveries. Carriers will not leave freight unattended.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
The following carrier services are not included in a standard freight quote and will be billed to you if required:
- Liftgate service, for locations without a dock or forklift
- Limited access delivery, including farms, ranches, construction sites, schools, churches, military bases, and self storage facilities
- Inside delivery
- Delivery appointment scheduling
- Storage, when a shipment cannot be delivered as scheduled
- Redelivery, after a missed appointment
- Address correction, when the delivery address provided is incorrect or incomplete
Ordering these services in advance is almost always cheaper than having the carrier add them at the destination. If you are unsure which apply to your location, ask us before you order.
INSPECTION AT DELIVERY
Inspect your shipment before you sign the delivery receipt. This is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself on a freight shipment.
Count the pieces against the delivery receipt and look the shipment over for visible damage. If anything is damaged, short, or missing, write it on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before the driver leaves, and take photos of the packaging and the product.
Signing a clean delivery receipt tells the carrier the shipment arrived complete and undamaged, and it significantly limits what can be recovered afterward.
If you find damage after unpacking, keep all packaging and photograph everything, then contact us right away. Damage, shortage, and concealed damage reporting is governed by our Refund Policy.
TITLE AND RISK OF LOSS
Shipments are FOB origin. Title and risk of loss pass to you when we transfer the product to the carrier.
REFUSED AND UNDELIVERABLE SHIPMENTS
Shipments refused without cause, or returned to us because the carrier could not complete delivery, are subject to return freight, redelivery charges, and restocking fees as set out in our Refund Policy.
If a shipment is damaged in transit, do not refuse it. Accept the shipment, note the damage on the delivery receipt, and contact us. Refusing a damaged shipment makes the claim harder to resolve and delays your replacement.
DELAYS
We are not liable for shipping or delivery delays, including delays caused by carriers, weather, road closures, supplier shortages, or other events outside our control.
